Beleth Demon: Powers, Sigil, Enn & Offerings

Beleth is the thirteenth spirit of the Ars Goetia, a mighty King whose central power is love. The older sources are unusually direct about this. Beleth is said to cause the love of men and women until the magician’s desire is fulfilled, and he commands eighty-five legions of spirits.

He is one of the more imposing kings in the Goetic tradition. Beleth arrives riding a pale horse, preceded by trumpets and other musical instruments, and the grimoires repeatedly describe his first appearance as furious or terrible. This is not a spirit I reduce to a generic “love demon.” His current combines attraction with royal force, intensity and command.

I use Beleth when the goal involves love, attachment, romantic desire, reconciliation, deepening an existing bond or creating a stronger emotional pull between people. The petition can be broad or specific depending on the situation. “Bring love into my life” is a valid objective, just as a more focused relationship petition can be valid.

Who Is Beleth?

Beleth appears in Johann Weyer’s Pseudomonarchia Daemonum as Byleth or Bileth and later as the thirteenth spirit of the Ars Goetia.

The two accounts agree on the essential profile. Beleth is a Great King, rides a pale horse, is preceded by trumpets and music, appears furious at first, and has tremendous power over love.

Weyer also preserves a tradition in which Ham, the son of Noah, is said to have invoked Bileth after the Flood and produced an art and a book known to mathematicians. This is sometimes simplified into the claim that Beleth “teaches mathematics,” but that is not actually given as his formal office in the text. His explicit magical power is love.

Beleth’s Appearance

Unlike many Goetic spirits, Beleth’s earliest descriptions do not give a complicated hybrid body. The emphasis is on his royal procession.

He rides a pale horse and comes with trumpets and other musical instruments sounding before him. He appears furious at first, and the magician is instructed to receive him with the courtesy due to a great king.

The image is one of overwhelming entrance rather than subtle contact. Beleth does not arrive as a quiet counselor. His appearance communicates rank, intensity and command.

Later occult literature has added many alternative visual forms, but I do not present those as though they were part of the original Goetic description.

Beleth’s Powers

Love and Romantic Attraction

Love is Beleth’s central and most clearly attested power.

The Ars Goetia says that Beleth causes all the love that may be, of both men and women, until the magician’s desire is fulfilled. Weyer gives the same basic office.

This can be applied to romantic attraction, deepening emotional attachment, reconciliation, increasing affection inside an existing relationship or drawing a stronger love current into the magician’s life.

I do not restrict Beleth to one-night attraction. His office is broader than lust. For pure sexual heat I may choose Sitri or Asmodeus. Beleth becomes especially interesting when the goal is emotional attachment, love and the strengthening of a bond.

Reconciliation

Beleth can be useful when love exists but the relationship has become damaged, distant or cold.

The petition does not have to specify the exact conversation or sequence of events through which reconciliation will occur. A broader request can ask Beleth to restore affection, soften emotional distance and draw the relationship back toward love.

That gives the current room to work through contact, changed emotion, renewed attraction or circumstances that bring the people closer again.

Long-Term Relationship Work

Beleth also suits longer-term relationship objectives.

A magician may ask for greater closeness, stronger devotion, emotional stability or movement toward a more committed relationship.

When the goal is broad, I prefer to state the desired direction rather than turning the ritual into an exact timetable. Love magic often unfolds through changes in emotion and behavior before the final outward result becomes obvious.

Emotional Influence

Because Beleth’s office concerns love itself, his current can be used to affect the emotional field around a relationship.

This can include increasing warmth, attachment, longing, affection and the sense that the bond matters.

I distinguish this from reputation or social charm magic. Forneus is better for broad goodwill and reputation. Beleth is much more intimate and relationship-focused.

Beleth Is Not Primarily a Demon of Mathematics

This point is worth clarifying because the claim appears frequently online.

Weyer’s text says that Ham invoked Bileth and created an art and a book known to many mathematicians. It does not list mathematics among Beleth’s powers in the way that Asmodeus is explicitly said to teach arithmetic and geometry.

If the goal is mathematics or technical study, I would choose Asmodeus, Vapula or another spirit whose intellectual office is more direct.

Beleth’s strongest historical identity is as a King of love.

Beleth’s Sigil

Beleth’s seal is the principal visual link I use in ritual work.

For attunement, place the sigil before you and repeat the enn until the atmosphere changes. For a larger operation, the seal belongs at the manifestation point or inside the triangle.

If the working concerns another person, the personal link can be placed near the seal while the petition is presented.

Beleth’s Enn

I use the enn as an attunement and contact formula.

Repeat it while gazing at the sigil until the rhythm begins to carry itself and the ritual atmosphere becomes distinct. Once contact is established, the chant can stop and the petition can be presented.

The enn does not need to be treated as a conversation. Its purpose is to establish the current.

Offerings for Beleth

I keep offerings secondary to the ritual itself.

Wine is enough for most Beleth operations and fits the royal tone of the spirit well. I usually present it near the end after the petition has been made.

Rose, sandalwood, benzoin or a richer resin blend can support love work, but incense remains part of the ritual atmosphere first.

For stronger operations I may use blood as an additional offering, but this is optional rather than fundamental.

Working Correspondences for Beleth

I separate the old grimoire material from correspondences used in later ritual practice.

The old sources give us Beleth’s rank, appearance, love office, silver ring, hazel wand, directions used in the conjuration and his eighty-five legions. They do not provide the modern tables of zodiac signs, crystals and candle colors that are often circulated online.

For my own practical love work, I use Venus as a supporting planetary current because it strengthens attraction, harmony and affection. I may also use the Moon when the operation concerns emotional attachment, longing or the deeper bond between people.

The Silver Ring and Hazel Wand

Beleth’s traditional ritual instructions are unusually detailed.

The magician is told to hold a hazel wand and direct it toward the east and south while making the triangle outside the circle. Beleth is also to be received courteously because of his royal rank.

The silver ring is especially distinctive. The Goetia instructs the magician to hold a silver ring on the middle finger of the left hand against the face, in the same manner used before Amaymon.

What I Would Ask Beleth For

Beleth works well with both broad and specific love petitions.

Examples include:

Bring a loving and committed relationship into my life.
Strengthen the love and emotional bond between me and this person.
Restore affection and closeness in a relationship that has become cold.
Increase romantic attraction and attachment between us.
Open the path toward a deeper and more committed relationship.
Bring greater love, companionship and emotional fulfillment into my life.

The petition does not need to specify one exact message, date or sequence of behavior. The desired direction can be enough.

Beleth in a Demon Stack

Beleth can work alone, but he can also become part of a larger relationship stack.

For example, Beleth can work on love and emotional attachment while Sitri strengthens sexual attraction. Forneus can improve social goodwill and communication around the relationship. Dantalion can be used when thoughts, perceptions and emotional attitudes also need to shift.

These should be separate rituals rather than one overloaded ceremony.

The spirits can still work toward the same broad relationship goal while each contributes its own current.

Is Beleth Dangerous?

The traditional texts describe Beleth as terrible and furious at first appearance, and they devote unusual attention to how the magician should receive and constrain him.

I take that seriously without turning the entire profile into fear-based warning copy.

The practical lesson is that Beleth is a royal and forceful spirit. The ritual should be prepared properly, the magician should know the purpose of the operation, and the closing should be formal.

Final Thoughts

Beleth is one of the clearest Goetic kings for love.

His traditional office is not vague. He is called to cause love, and the old texts surround that power with royal imagery, music, a pale horse, the silver ring and an unusually forceful entrance.

I use him when the objective is emotional attachment, romantic love, reconciliation or a stronger relationship bond. He can be used alone or as the love-centered spirit inside a broader demon stack.
