Demon Buer: His Attributes And Summoning Ritual
The recent demon that I’ve successfully summoned is Buer. His description can be found in Lesser Key of Solomon and in Pseudomonarchia daemonum of Johann Weir. The LKoS provides a more elaborate description:
The Tenth Spirit is Buer, a Great President. He appeareth in Sagittary, and that is his shape when the Sun is there. He teaches Philosophy, both Moral and Natural, and the Logic Art, and also the Virtues of all Herbs and Plants. He healeth all distempers in man, and giveth good Familiars. He governeth 50 Legions of Spirits, and his Character of obedience is this, which thou must wear when thou callest him forth unto appearance.
Buer’s Power Level
Buer is a second class demon within the demonic hierarchy. That’s not to say that he’s not powerful. On top of the hierarchy are Kings of Hell such as Paimon and Baal. They are followed by Presidents such as Buer and Mammon.
Descending further there are many Dukes like Astaroth and Zepar along with many lesser demons. This means that Buer is easier to summon and control for your benefit than most of the Kings, but he can still pose a challenge for those with less experience with summoning rituals.
Buer’s Appearance
Buer often takes on the appearance of a lion’s face surrounded by many legs on which he doesn’t run but rolls instead. Buer looks quite intimidating and terrifying for some who’ve summoned him successfully.
When and Why to Summon Buer
The reason for summoning Buer would be to gain assistance with:
- learning about philosophy, science, occultism, herbs and plants
- for healing an acute or chronic illness
- for becoming mentally and physically stronger
- receiving good Familiars (spiritual and physical)
The 3rd point is not mentioned explicitly in any grimoire or book of magick, but if you look at the word “distempers”, you will notice that it signifies “disorder” in general. So it can be both physical disorder, which would manifest as an illness or a mental disorder, something that is much broader.
In this mental category belong anxiety, depression, lack of confidence and many character traits. Buer is a demon that takes on the bullish lionesque form for a reason – he’s all about strength and power, self-improvement, strengthening one’s mental and physical faculties.
So if you want to read more books on occultism or gain direct insight about philosophical and occult questions Buer can be a worthy companion. Although I would personally go with Furcas in that case, since I’ve had great success with him accelerating my learning progress. But if you want to heal a physical ailment or improve on a mental weakness Buer is perhaps the best demon you can summon.
Buer Summoning Ritual

If you’ve read my other summoning rituals you’ll know that I prefer a minimalist approach. Some magicians use a wand, dagger, various incense, ceremonial robes, candles and many other devices to get into the proper mental state for summoning demons.
I on the other hand prefer to use as little tools as possible and instead focus on self-trance induction through ritual movement and mantras, chants and/or demonic enns. This is the approach you can take when summoning Buer as well.
This is a Buer summoning ritual I’ve used only recently with great success, and I’m still reaping the immense benefits of improved strength and overall power.
You will need:
- A piece of paper and a pen
- 4 candles
- A quiet room with no disturbance
- OPTIONAL: A scrying mirror
The ritual steps:
- To begin the ritual draw Buer’s sigil on the piece of paper.
- Next, place one candle on each corner of the paper.
- Place the paper and candles either on a table in the middle of your room or on the middle of the floor.
- Light up the candles and shut off any other lights. The candlelight illuminating the sigil should be the only source of light in the room.
- Now start to move around the sigil and the candles while chanting Buer’s enn: “Erato on ca Buer anon.” The purpose of doing this is to get into a trance state. In this state you’ll have an easier time communicating with Buer.
So from this point forward your only goal is to get into a trance state. Move around the sigil freely, even perform a dance as if you were dancing around the fire in a tribal setting. Let go of all inhibitions and allow the energy to permeate your body and mind, moving them directly by the unconsious mind of which you have no control.
Observe the sigil by staring into it. This will often have the effect of turning the sigil 3D. In other words it elevates from the paper, especially when in the middle between four candles. If you have the scrying mirror at hand observe it and see if Buer will appear in visual form as well.
Once you’ve entered the trance, speak to Buer in your own words. These are the words that I’ve used (paraphrasing):
Mighty Buer, I summon thee to help me. I need your assistance in getting rid of my distempers ________ (state your problems). I ask for help in acquiring knowledge of _________. (repeat your request in your own words and for as long as you feel is necessary)
Once you’ve stated your request sufficiently, allow Buer to respond. He might provide you with a vision. Or he might use your own voice to give the answer, which is what I experienced.
Once you’ve gained a satisfactory answer, close the ritual by letting Buer go perform the necessary work:
Mighty Buer, I will now close the ritual. Go forth and provide me with health, knowledge and power!
Now is the time to turn on the lights, put out the candles and store the sigil in a safe and respectable place. DON’T destroy the sigil just yet. You can destroy the sigil when you no longer require Buer’s assistance.
It’s recommended to have only 3-4 sigils open at one time, although most magicians do best with only 1-2 sigils open. You don’t want too many demons working for you at once, because their differing energies can make them less effective and even cause negative effects. So once you plan on summoning other demons or you’ve had enough of Buer’s help THEN destroy the sigil.
I’ve been experiencing Buer’s help for the last 7 days and I can honestly say that I’ve never felt more powerful. My health is still not at the optimum level but I’ve gained mental fortitude and confidence that I previously lacked. Everything that I do occurs naturally without too much fuss, even things that I would otherwise postpone.
Before you go on to summon Buer, keep in mind the most important advice that is always given to magicians: Don’t allow the demon to control you. You are the master, the summoner. Be respectful to the demon always, but never become subservient in your mind, otherwise bad things can happen, of which demonic possession is the worst consequence.
With that in mind if you need assistance in health, overall power and knowledge Buer is definitely a demon you should consider summoning.
