Demon Raum: Powers, Rituals & Correspondences
Raum is one of the more forceful and strategically useful spirits of the Ars Goetia. He is listed as the fortieth demon, a mighty Earl who commands thirty legions of spirits. His appearance is especially distinctive: he first manifests in the form of a crow, then takes on human shape when commanded by the magician.
Raum’s Powers & Attributes
In traditional demonology, Raum is said to steal treasures from the houses of kings and carry them wherever the magician desires. He is also said to destroy cities and dignities, reveal things past, present, and future, and reconcile friends and enemies.
Taken literally, these powers may seem scattered or even contradictory. But when understood symbolically and magically, they form a coherent current. Raum takes power from where it has been concentrated, exposes what has been hidden, breaks down protective prestige, and rearranges relationships between people.
This makes him one of the most interesting Goetic spirits for matters involving power, leverage, reputation, debt, betrayal, and social conflict.
Raum is not usually the first demon one would call for general prosperity. For broad wealth expansion, spirits such as Mammon, Bune, Clauneck, or Lucifuge Rofocale may be more appropriate, depending on the exact goal. Raum’s financial power is more situational. He is not primarily a builder of wealth in the slow, accumulative sense. He is more closely connected to seizure and the collapse of someone else’s hold over resources.
However, the old grimoire description of Raum stealing treasures from kings’ houses should not be reduced to criminality. In magical terms, the “king’s house” represents established power, guarded wealth, protected privilege, and resources locked behind someones authority. Raum’s current attacks the assumption that such things are untouchable. He is a spirit who can move power out of fixed places.
This also explains his power to destroy dignities. In older language, dignity refers not only to personal honor but also to office, status, rank, public standing, and social legitimacy.
His crow form deepens this interpretation. The crow is intelligent, watchful, opportunistic, and associated with death, omens, and scavenging. But the crow is also a survivor. It sees what others miss. In Raum’s case, the crow represents the eye that watches from above until weakness appears.
This is why Raum can be very effective in conflict work. He is not as purely warlike as spirits such as Andras or Glasya-Labolas, nor as purely coercive as some darker revenge spirits used for domination or destruction.
One of his most overlooked powers is reconciliation. The Ars Goetia states that he can reconcile friends and enemies. This may seem strange beside his powers of theft and destruction, but it makes sense when his deeper nature is understood. Raum is a spirit of realignment, breaking one arrangement and creating another. The same force that can divide hostile parties can also repair a broken bond.
Raum can therefore be useful in situations where conflict has created a distorted structure: enemies who should not be enemies, friends separated by manipulation, or relationships damaged by pride and misunderstanding.
His reconciliation is not soft, sentimental, or Venusian in the manner of love spirits. He is not like Gremory, Sallos, or Dantalion, who may work more through affection and emotional influence.
Raum’s reconciliation is often more direct, revealing truth that makes reconciliation possible. He can break the influence of those who keep two people apart, including black magic influence, similar to Vine.
How to Summon Raum for Help

You should be clear about the desired result. Raum is not ideal for vague petitions. A petition such as “bring me wealth” is often too broad for his nature.
For example, Raum may be called to pressure a specific person to pay what they owe, to expose deception within a business arrangement, to weaken the reputation of a hostile adversary, to cause division among people working against the client, or to recover advantage in a situation where power has been unfairly taken.
He may also be petitioned to reveal hidden factors in a conflict or to reconcile two people after the forces keeping them apart have been weakened.
In ritual, Raum is traditionally approached through the Goetic framework. His sigil may be drawn on parchment and placed within the triangle of manifestation.
The magician may use a protective circle, the appropriate conjurations, and a clear written petition. Because of his crow symbolism and destructive office, black candles, dark red candles, iron, grave incense, storax, myrrh, or heavy resins may be suitable, depending on the style of the operator.
The atmosphere of the ritual should be controlled, and focused, as he is a spirit of forceful movement. The magician should know exactly what is being asked and what kind of shift is desired.
Offerings may include incense, wine, blood, or a spoken vow of recognition, depending on the practitioner’s system and level of commitment. However, the offering is less important than the precision of the work. Raum does not need theatrical excess. His power is better served by a clear target, a strong petition, and a properly contained ritual structure.
A Raum ritual for debt recovery, for example, would not simply ask for money in general. It would name the debtor, define what is owed, and petition Raum to strip away the person’s resistance, comfort, excuses, and protective delay until payment is made.
A ritual against an enemy’s reputation would define the false dignity or social protection being targeted, then call upon Raum to expose, undermine, and collapse it.
A ritual for hidden truth would focus his crow-like perception toward the concealed matter and ask that the relevant secret become known through events, admissions, documents, dreams, or sudden revelations.
This specificity is what makes Raum powerful in practice.
Raum’s Planetary Correspondences

Raum’s traditional rank in the Ars Goetia is Earl, which places him within the martial current of the grimoire system.
In many systems of Goetic correspondence, Earls are associated with Mars, and this fits Raum well. His work may be strengthened on a Tuesday, during the planetary hour of Mars.
Especially when the ritual concerns enemies, debt recovery, reputational damage, division among hostile parties, or the destruction of an unjust structure. Mars gives force, heat, aggression, courage, and the will to break through opposition.
There is also a secondary Saturnian undertone in Raum’s current. This should not replace Mars as his primary planetary attribution, but it is worth recognizing. His crow form, his connection with destruction, his ability to bring down dignities, and his association with the fall of established power all resonate with Saturn.
Saturn governs endings, decay, consequences, old structures, fear, time, and the collapse of what can no longer maintain itself. Where Mars strikes, Saturn rots the foundation. Raum often seems to operate through both: the sudden strike of Mars and the cold removal of support associated with Saturn.
In ritual terms, this means that Raum can be worked through a Mars current when forceful action is needed, and through a darker Mars-Saturn blend when the goal involves long-standing enemies, entrenched structures, reputational collapse, punishment, or the slow breakdown of a hostile position.
A Tuesday ritual is usually the clearest choice, but Saturday can be considered for workings focused more heavily on exposure or the removal of someone’s status and protection.
Raum’s Elemental Correspondences
Elementally, Raum is best understood through Air mixed with Fire. His crow form gives him a strong Air correspondence: perception, movement, intelligence, messages, omens, secrets, and the ability to see from above.
The Fire element appears through his martial rank and destructive powers. Fire gives him aggression and movement, while Air gives him strategy, observation, and revelation. Together, these elements make Raum a spirit of intelligent disruption rather than blind violence.
For ritual color, black is the most important. It reflects secrecy, shadow, destruction, protection, and the crow form through which Raum first appears.
Dark red is also highly appropriate, especially when emphasizing his martial and conflict-oriented powers. Deep burgundy, blood red, or iron red can be used when the ritual concerns enemies, pressure, debt recovery, or reputational damage.
Grey may also be used as a secondary color, especially in workings of concealment and the uncovering of hidden things.
Raum’s Metal Correspondence
The most suitable metals for Raum are iron and, secondarily, lead. Iron corresponds to Mars and is ideal for his forceful, aggressive, and adversarial operations. Iron nails, an iron blade, or a small iron object placed near the petition can strengthen the martial aspect of the rite.
Lead corresponds to Saturn and can be used when the ritual is more focused on downfall, consequence, decay, or the destruction of dignity. For most Raum rituals, iron should be the primary metal. Lead can be introduced only when the Saturnian aspect is deliberately being emphasized.
Raum’s Crystals, Incense, Animals, Direction & Number
Suitable crystals and stones for Raum include obsidian, hematite, black tourmaline, garnet, smoky quartz, and bloodstone.

Obsidian is perhaps the most obvious stone for him. It belongs to shadow, revelation, cutting through illusion, and scrying into concealed matters. It is excellent for Raum rituals involving hidden information, enemy exposure, or the destruction of false appearances.
Hematite is also highly appropriate because of its iron content and martial weight. It gives the ritual a grounded, severe, forceful quality. Hematite is useful when Raum is being called to pressure someone, recover what is owed, or strengthen the magician’s will in a conflict.
Black tourmaline can be used when the ritual involves enemies, hostile groups, or spiritual protection during disruptive work. While Raum is not primarily a protective spirit, his rites may involve conflict, and black tourmaline helps absorb and contain hostile currents.
Garnet fits the Mars current well. It adds blood, force, aggression, desire, and momentum. It is especially useful when the work requires intensity and pressure rather than quiet observation.
Smoky quartz is useful for Raum’s shadowy, liminal, and revealing aspects. It can help bring hidden matters into awareness while also grounding the destructive force of the ritual. Bloodstone is another strong option for martial workings.
A strong Raum crystal arrangement could involve obsidian at the center, hematite or iron at the front of the triangle, black tourmaline at the rear or perimeter, and garnet or bloodstone placed near the petition when forceful action is required. For a more Saturnian version of the rite, smoky quartz and lead may be added, with the overall color scheme kept black, grey, and dark red.
In incense, Raum responds well to heavier and darker scents. Myrrh, storax, dragon’s blood, frankincense, patchouli, and tobacco can all be appropriate depending on the ritual’s intention.
Dragon’s blood strengthens the martial, aggressive side of the work. Myrrh and storax deepen the darker, chthonic, and Saturnian tone.
Frankincense can be used to elevate and formalize the rite, especially when working within a traditional Goetic structure. Tobacco is suitable when calling a spirit into a more severe, pact-like, or command-oriented atmosphere.
Raum’s animals are most obviously the crow and the raven. These birds symbolize intelligence, death, omens, scavenging, memory.
In a ritual setting, crow feathers, black bird imagery, or a hand-drawn crow symbol near the sigil can strengthen the connection to Raum’s form.
His direction may be placed in the South if emphasizing Mars and Fire, or the West/Northwest if emphasizing the liminal movement between visible and hidden things.
Personally, I would use South for direct attack, conflict, debt recovery, and enemy work, while using West or Northwest for revelation, secret exposure, and social realignment.
If using a strict Goetic setup, the triangle of manifestation can remain in its usual position according to the operator’s system, with these correspondences integrated into the altar rather than replacing the ritual structure.
Raum’s number may be taken as thirty, because he commands thirty legions of spirits. This can be used ritually by repeating his name thirty times, placing thirty marks around the petition, or burning the petition after thirty focused breaths.
The number forty may also be used because he is the fortieth spirit of the Ars Goetia, but thirty feels more directly connected to his operative force because it refers to the legions under his command.
Raum Correspondence Table
Rank: Earl
Primary planet: Mars
Secondary influence: Saturn
Primary element: Air
Secondary element: Fire
Colors: Black, dark red, grey, burgundy
Metal: Iron
Secondary metal: Lead
Crystals: Obsidian, hematite, black tourmaline, garnet, smoky quartz, bloodstone
Incense: Myrrh, storax, dragon’s blood, frankincense, patchouli, tobacco
Animals: Crow, raven
Day: Tuesday for martial workings; Saturday for Saturnian destruction or downfall workings
Planetary hour: Mars for force, pressure, debt recovery, and enemy work; Saturn for collapse, exposure, and destruction of dignity
Ritual themes: Reversal, exposure, theft of advantage, destruction of status, debt recovery, hostile division, reconciliation through realignment
In practice, I would not overload a Raum ritual with every possible correspondence. His work benefits from severity and precision.
For most rituals, a black candle, a dark red candle, his sigil, iron, obsidian, hematite, and dragon’s blood or myrrh incense would be more than enough. If the working is specifically aimed at downfall or reputational collapse, smoky quartz, lead, grey candles, and Saturnian timing can be added.
The most important thing is that the correspondences serve the intention rather than being decorative.
Raum Summoning Rituals

Raum should not be approached through simplistic candle work alone, as his current is too complex for that.
A proper ceremony with Raum must be constructed around the exact nature of the goal. The following ceremonial structures are written as examples of serious Raum work, but also somewhat beginner friendly.
It’s also worth noting that Raum’s traditional enn is not as universally fixed as those of some modern demonolatry systems, so the operator may either use a personally received chant or a simple repetitive vibration of his name. A useful form for raising the current is:
“Raum, Raum, Raum, corvus niger, aperi vias occultas.”
This may be translated as: “Raum, Raum, Raum, black crow, open the hidden roads.”
Another simpler chant is:
“Raum, Earl of the Crow, reveal, divide, reverse.”
The exact chant matters less than the rhythm and accumulation of force through focus. The chant should be used to build the current before the petition itself is delivered.
The Iron Treasury: Raum Ritual for Debt Recovery
This rite is designed for recovering money, payment, or resources that are being withheld. It is not a general wealth ritual.
Its structure is based on the old description of Raum taking treasure from the houses of kings and carrying it where the magician desires. The “treasury” in this rite represents the locked resource, the person withholding payment, or the institution refusing release.
The best timing is Tuesday in the planetary hour of Mars. If the debt is old, bureaucratic, or tied to legal obstruction, begin the rite on Saturday in the hour of Saturn and complete it on Tuesday in the hour of Mars. This creates a two-stage current: Saturn weakens the structure of delay, Mars forces movement.
The ritual chamber should be arranged with a protective circle large enough for the operator to stand in. The circle may be marked with salt and four iron nails at the quarters. The nails are not decorative; they establish martial containment. Outside the circle, to the east or southeast, place the triangle of manifestation. Raum’s sigil is placed inside the triangle, drawn by hand on parchment.
Before the triangle, place a small black box, wooden chest, or covered bowl. This represents the sealed treasury. Inside it, place the debtor’s name, the amount owed, copies or symbols of invoices, contracts, receipts, or messages, and a small piece of hematite. Wrap these in black thread or cord to show the money bound in obstruction.
On the altar inside the circle, place an iron athame, a black candle, a dark red candle, and a cup of red wine. The athame represents the martial command that cuts through delay. If no athame is used, an iron wand or iron nail may substitute, but the tool should be consecrated specifically for work of pressure and severance.
Begin by standing inside the circle facing the triangle. Strike the floor lightly three times with the base of the staff or wand, or touch the athame to the ground three times. Say:
“By circle, by iron, by command, this chamber is sealed.”
Light the black candle and say:
“The hidden treasury is seen.”
Light the dark red candle and say:
“The guarded gate is struck.”
Then begin the chant:
“Raum, Raum, Raum, corvus niger, aperi vias occultas.”
Chant until the atmosphere changes. The goal is not to recite it a fixed number of times mechanically, but to raise force. When the current feels present, lift the athame and point it toward the triangle.
Say:
“Raum, mighty Earl, crow-formed spirit, mover of treasures from the guarded houses of kings, I call you into this triangle. Look upon the sealed treasury of this matter. See the money withheld. See the person or power that delays its release. See the excuses, the silence, the avoidance, and the unjust possession.”
Approach the triangle, but do not step into it. Take the black box or covered bowl and circle it counterclockwise around the triangle three times, showing the current of obstruction. Each time you pass the front of the triangle, say:
“This treasure is held.”
After the third circuit, place the box before Raum’s sigil. Take the athame and cut the black cord or thread around the contents. Say:
“The obstruction is cut.”
Open the box. Remove the petition and hold it in the incense smoke. Speak the command:
“Raum, enter the house of delay. Disturb the comfort of withholding. Strip away the peace of the one who refuses release. Let pressure rise around [name]. Let silence fail. Let avoidance become burden. Let what is owed begin to move from their possession toward me.”
Now place the petition back into the box, but leave the box open. This is crucial. The treasury is no longer sealed. Place the hematite on top of the petition and point the athame at it while chanting Raum’s name thirty times.
After the thirtieth repetition, pour a small portion of wine into an offering bowl before the triangle and say:
“Raum, receive this offering and carry the force of this rite into movement, pressure, payment, settlement, and release.”
The box should remain open on the altar until the candles have burned down safely or for at least one full hour. Afterward, the petition may be kept under hematite until movement begins. If the matter is severe, the rite may be repeated on three consecutive Tuesdays, each time reopening the box and commanding release.
The Crow Mirror: Raum Ritual for Revealing Secrets
This rite uses Raum’s crow form and aerial intelligence. It is a spirit-assisted divinatory operation meant to reveal deception, concealed motives, hidden enemies etc.
The ritual should be performed at night, or at any time if the room can remain dark except for candlelight. Tuesday may be used for matters involving betrayal, enemies, and conflict. Saturday is better for older secrets, family matters, buried history, institutions, or long-standing silence.
The circle should be marked lightly with salt or chalk, but it should not feel heavily martial. This rite needs stillness.
At the eastern edge of the circle, place a black mirror, obsidian mirror, or dark bowl of water. Behind it, place Raum’s sigil. Above the sigil, place a black feather or image of a crow. If no feather is available, draw a simple black crow silhouette on parchment.
There is no triangle of manifestation in the usual aggressive sense. Instead, create a Triangle of Sight using three stones: obsidian at the apex, smoky quartz at the left base, and clear quartz or moonstone at the right base. The obsidian cuts illusion. The smoky quartz draws truth out of shadow. The clear stone allows the truth to become intelligible.
The operator sits inside the circle facing the mirror. A staff or wand of ash, yew, or dark-stained wood may be held across the lap. A wand is better than an athame here because the rite is not meant to attack. It is meant to direct sight.
Begin by knocking the wand gently on the floor seven times. Then say:
“Raum, crow-eyed Earl, watcher above hidden roads, I prepare the mirror of sight.”
Light one black candle to the left of the mirror and one grey candle to the right. Do not light a white candle yet. Place the written question beneath the mirror. The question must be exact. For example:
“Reveal what [name] is hiding regarding [situation].”
or:
“Show the hidden cause behind [event].”
or:
“Reveal the unseen influence behind this conflict.”
Begin the chant slowly:
“Raum, Earl of the Crow, reveal, divide, reverse.”
As the chant continues, imagine a crow descending from darkness and landing behind the mirror. Its eyes are not sentimental or comforting. They are cold, black, intelligent, and impossible to deceive.
After the chant has raised the current, hold the wand vertically before the mirror and say:
“Raum, I do not call you now to strike, but to see. Send the crow-eye over this matter. Let what is hidden cast its reflection. Let silence form an image. Let deception create its own shadow. Let the secret become visible.”
Gaze into the mirror or water. Do not strain. Allow images, names, physical sensations, fragments of speech, memories, or sudden conclusions to arise. If nothing appears, remain still. Sometimes the strongest answer is not visual but structural: a sudden understanding of who benefits, who fears exposure, who is lying, or where the hidden point rests.
At the moment the operator feels an answer has begun to form, light the white candle and say:
“What was hidden has found a path toward sight.”
The rite should then move into channeling. Take a notebook reserved for ritual work. With the left hand resting near the mirror and the right hand writing, ask Raum:
“What must I know?”
Write without editing for several minutes. The answer may not be grammatically perfect. It may come as fragments. That is acceptable. Interpret after the ritual, not during it.
To close, cover the mirror with black cloth and say:
“Raum, withdraw your eye from the mirror, but leave the truth moving toward revelation.”
This rite differs from a normal petition because it uses Raum as a seer rather than an attacker. Its power lies in silence, controlled vision, and channeling, not in force.
The Broken Crown: Raum Ritual to Destroy False Dignity
This is a ritual based on Raum’s power to destroy dignities. It should be used only when the target’s reputation, authority, rank, or public image is abusive or unjustly shielding them from consequence.
The ritual should be performed during the hour of Saturn on Saturday if the dignity is old, institutional, professional, or tied to public status. If the goal is faster conflict and exposure, perform the second half of the rite on Tuesday in the hour of Mars.
The ritual space should include both a circle and a triangle. The circle is marked with salt and ash. The triangle is formed outside the circle using three black candles. At the center of the triangle place Raum’s sigil. In front of the sigil place a small symbolic crown. This may be made from paper, blackened foil, wax, or twigs bound into a ring. The crown represents the target’s false dignity.
Inside the crown place the target’s name paper. If the target’s status rests on a particular title, role, image, or social group, write that clearly. For example: “their reputation for honesty,” “their authority over the group,” “their professional standing,” “their false image of innocence,” or “their influence over [person/group].”
The operator stands inside the circle with an iron athame or black-handled ritual knife. A staff of blackthorn, oak, or ash may be used to mark the quarters. Blackthorn is especially fitting if the rite is severe, because of its association with boundaries, thorns, and harsh magical protection.
Begin by walking counterclockwise inside the circle once, holding the athame downward. Say:
“The false crown is marked for falling.”
Light the three black candles of the triangle one by one. With each flame, say:
“First flame: the mask is seen.”
“Second flame: the support is weakened.”
“Third flame: the dignity collapses.”
Then chant Raum’s name in a low rhythm. After several minutes, point the athame toward the crown and say:
“Raum, mighty Earl, destroyer of dignities, you who bring down the honored image when it is false, I call you into this triangle. Look upon the crown of [name]. Look upon the respect they do not deserve, the authority they misuse, the image that conceals their corruption, and the protection they draw from deception.”
Now comes the central movement. Step to the edge of the circle but do not cross it. Use the athame or wand to point toward the crown while naming each pillar of the target’s false dignity. After each one, lower the blade sharply and say:
“Crack.”
For example:
“Their false honesty — crack.”
“Their influence over others — crack.”
“Their borrowed authority — crack.”
“Their mask of innocence — crack.”
“Their protection through reputation — crack.”
After this, take a length of black thread and wrap it around the crown three times, saying:
“This dignity is bound to its own truth.”
Then unwrap it violently or cut it with the athame, saying:
“What is false cannot hold.”
Finally, crush, tear, or break the symbolic crown. This is the peak of the ritual. As it breaks, say:
“Raum, let the dignity fall. Let the image fail. Let consequence rise through speech, memory, exposure, error, withdrawal of support, and the turning of public perception.”
The remains of the crown should not be kept. They may be burned in a fireproof vessel and the ashes taken away from the home. The target’s name paper may be burned with it or buried separately beneath a stone, depending on whether the goal is exposure or long-term decline.
This rite has a completely different structure from the debt recovery ritual. It is not about opening a treasury. It is about ritually constructing the false crown, charging it with the target’s public image, cracking its pillars, binding it to truth, and destroying it before Raum.
The Scattered Feathers Rite: Raum Ritual to Divide Hostile Alliances
This ritual is for breaking the unity of hostile groups. It uses Raum’s crow symbolism differently: not as a seer, but as a bird that scatters the formation of enemies. The structure is based on movement, separation, and dispersal.
Perform this rite on Tuesday during Mars hour. If the hostile alliance is based on family, institution, long-standing loyalty, or an old pact, begin with a Saturnian preparation on Saturday, then perform the dividing rite on Tuesday.
The working space should be larger than usual because movement matters. Mark a circle around the operator with salt. Outside the circle, place Raum’s sigil in the triangle of manifestation. Around the triangle, place separate name papers for each person in the hostile alliance. Do not let the papers touch.
Between the name papers, place black feathers, pieces of black paper cut into feather shapes, or small strips of black cloth. Each feather represents the line of communication, trust, or shared purpose between them.
The operator holds a staff rather than an athame. A staff is better here because the work is not a single cut; it is the dispersal of an entire formation. Oak gives authority. Ash gives movement between worlds. Blackthorn gives harsher severance. For Raum, a dark ash staff would be excellent because of the aerial, corvid, and liminal qualities of the rite.
Light one dark red candle before Raum’s sigil and four black candles at the outer points of the working space. These four candles represent the hostile group’s field of action. The goal is to break that field.
Begin with the chant:
“Raum, Raum, Raum, scatter the flock, divide the road.”
Strike the staff on the ground once after each repetition. Continue until the rhythm becomes forceful.
Call Raum:
“Raum, Earl of the crow-form, enter this hostile formation. Look upon [names/group]. See how they gather strength from one another. See the words, plans, loyalties, fears, and shared intentions that bind them. I call you to scatter their agreement, divide their confidence, and break the pattern of their unity.”
The magician then walks counterclockwise around the outer arrangement of name papers. At each paper, stop and turn it slightly away from the others. This is important: the names are not merely separated at the end; their orientation is changed. They no longer face the same center.
After turning each name, say:
“Your purpose turns away.”
Then take the black feathers or strips between the names and move them outward, away from the center. If using paper feathers, tear one after each movement. Say:
“The message fails.”
After all names are turned outward and the feathers scattered, take the staff and draw invisible lines in the air between the papers, cutting the old connections. Then say:
“Let suspicion enter the spaces between them. Let each hear the other wrongly. Let selfish interest rise. Let timing fail. Let loyalty weaken. Let the hostile formation scatter.”
If one person is the leader, place their name upside down beneath Raum’s sigil and cover it with obsidian. Say:
“The center loses command.”
The rite ends by gathering each name paper separately. They should be disposed of separately, never together. One may be burned, one buried, one thrown away far from the home, one placed in running water, depending on the number and role of the people involved. This physical separation reinforces the magical one.
This ritual feels distinct because it uses movement, orientation, scattering, staff work, and symbolic feathers rather than a simple altar petition.
The Salt Road Rite: Raum Ritual for Reconciliation
This ritual uses Raum’s power to reconcile friends and enemies, but not in a soft romantic way. It is based on the idea that Raum reconciles by destroying the false arrangement that keeps people divided.
This ceremony is best performed at dusk, when day and night are both present. Tuesday may be used if the conflict is heated. Saturday may be used if the separation is cold, old, or pride-based. If the reconciliation is romantic or emotional, Friday evening can be added as a secondary timing, but Raum’s current should remain the controlling force of the rite.
Mark the circle with salt. At the eastern side of the circle, place Raum’s sigil. Instead of a triangle, create a narrow road of salt leading from one name paper to the other. At first, the road should be broken in the middle. Place obsidian on the break, representing the hidden cause of separation. Place smoky quartz on one side and white quartz on the other. These represent confusion dissolving and communication returning.
Use three candles: black, dark red, and white. The black candle is placed at the break in the road. The dark red candle is placed before Raum’s sigil. The white candle is placed at the far end of the road but remains unlit until the final phase.
The operator holds a wand rather than a knife. A wand of willow, ash, or olive wood may be used. Willow is suitable when sorrow and emotional pain are involved. Ash is suitable when the reconciliation requires spiritual realignment. Olive is suitable when peace and restoration are the dominant goal.
Begin by lighting the black candle and saying:
“This is the broken road.”
Light the dark red candle and say:
“This is the force that breaks the obstruction.”
Chant:
“Raum, reconcile through truth. Raum, restore through realignment.”
Then call the spirit:
“Raum, mighty Earl, you who reconcile friends and enemies, look upon the broken road between [name] and [name]. See not only their emotions, but the structure of the separation. See the pride, interference, silence, false counsel, resentment, fear, and distorted memory that keep the road broken.”
With the wand, point to the obsidian at the break in the salt road. Name the obstruction. If unknown, say:
“The hidden obstruction between them.”
Then move the obsidian away from the road and say:
“What concealed the path is removed.”
Now repair the salt road with your fingers or the wand. This physical action matters. You are not merely asking for reconciliation; you are rebuilding the symbolic road between the two people.
Once the road is restored, move the two name papers slightly closer along it. Do this in stages, not all at once. Each time, say:
“One step is opened.”
Repeat until the names meet in the middle of the road. Then light the white candle and say:
“The road is visible again.”
At the height of the rite, hold both name papers over the incense smoke and say:
“Raum, break the false arrangement that sustained separation. Let truth soften pride. Let memory become less poisoned. Let speech reopen. Let the road between them become possible again, if it is rightful and not contrary to the deeper order of the work.”
Tie the names together with white thread and place them beneath smoky quartz or white quartz for seven nights. Each night, the operator may relight a white candle briefly and repeat:
“The road remains open.”
This ritual is unique because it is based on constructing, breaking, and repairing a ritual road rather than using the triangle as the dominant image.
The Reversed Throne: Raum Ritual for Power Reversal
This is an advanced operation for reversing an unfavorable power dynamic. It is useful when one is beneath an oppressive person, hostile group, unjust authority, debtor, institution, rival, or manipulative social structure.
The central symbol is the throne. Whoever sits above controls the arrangement. Raum is called to overturn the throne and move advantage.
Perform this rite on Tuesday in the hour of Mars. If the opposing structure is old or institutional, perform a preliminary Saturnian rite on Saturday to weaken its foundation.
The altar should be arranged in three levels. The highest level may be a raised plate, stone, wooden block, or small platform. The middle level holds Raum’s sigil. The lowest level holds your name at the beginning of the rite. The opposing force is placed on the raised level, symbolically enthroned above yours.
The circle is marked with salt and iron. The triangle of manifestation is placed before the altar with Raum’s sigil duplicated inside it. This double-sigil structure creates one sigil for manifestation and one for command within the symbolic arrangement.
Tools include an iron athame, a blackthorn or oak staff, hematite, garnet, obsidian, and three candles: black, red, and gold or yellow. The gold candle represents advantage, rank, and control. It begins beside the opposing force but is moved later.
Begin by standing in the circle and striking the staff three times.
“The order is witnessed.”
Point to the opposing force on the raised platform:
“The false height is named.”
Point to your name below:
“The suppressed force is named.”
Light the black candle:
“Raum sees the hidden structure.”
Light the red candle:
“Raum enters with force.”
Light the gold candle beside the opposing name:
“This is the advantage to be moved.”
Begin chanting:
“Raum, reverse the throne. Raum, move the treasure. Raum, break the height.”
The chant should build until the operator feels the structure of the altar as a living image of the situation. Then call Raum:
“Raum, mighty Earl, mover of treasure, destroyer of dignity, breaker of guarded houses, look upon this arrangement. See who stands above. See who is forced below. See the advantage held against [your or client name]. I call you to overturn the false throne, weaken the elevated force, and move power, leverage, timing, and opportunity toward [your or client name].”
Now perform the reversal physically. Remove the opposing name from the raised platform and place it below Raum’s sigil. Move your name onto the raised platform. Take the gold candle from the opposing side and place it beside your name.
Say:
“What was above is brought below.”
Strike the staff once.
“What was withheld is moved.”
Strike the staff again.
“What was fixed against [client name] loses command.”
Strike the staff a third time.
Place hematite and garnet beside your name. Place obsidian over the opposing force. Point the athame toward the lower paper and say:
“Your advantage is broken from its seat.”
Then point the athame toward the raised client paper and say:
“Power moves upward here.”
The rite may include a channeling phase. Sit before the altar with the staff across the knees and ask Raum:
“What weakness in the opposing structure must be struck?”
Write whatever comes. This can later determine practical action or a follow-up rite.
The reversal should remain arranged on the altar for at least one night. On the following day, the opposing paper may be burned or buried beneath a stone, while your paper is kept with hematite or garnet until results begin to manifest.
The Thirty-Legion Gate: Full Raum Evocation
This is a more complete Raum operation for cases that cannot be reduced to one simple goal. Rather than asking Raum for one narrow action, the magician opens a ceremonial gate to his thirty legions and assigns different streams of the operation.
This should be performed only by an experienced operator. The best timing is Tuesday night in the hour of Mars, ideally after preliminary divination. If the matter is exceptionally heavy, a Saturnian cleansing or weakening rite may be performed three days before.
The ritual space uses a full circle and triangle. The circle is marked with salt, ash, and iron filings or iron nails at the quarters. The triangle is placed outside the circle. Raum’s sigil is placed inside the triangle. Around the triangle are thirty small marks, stones, pins, or pieces of black thread, each representing one legion under Raum’s command.
The altar inside the circle holds the main petition, a black candle, a dark red candle, a grey candle, a cup of wine, an incense burner, an iron athame, and a staff or wand. Obsidian, hematite, smoky quartz, and garnet are arranged in a cross around the petition: obsidian to reveal, hematite to pressure, smoky quartz to dissolve, garnet to drive force.
The operator begins by circumambulating the circle clockwise with incense, then counterclockwise with the staff. The clockwise movement establishes the sacred chamber. The counterclockwise movement opens the path into disruption.
At the eastern point, say:
“The chamber is sealed.”
At the south:
“The force is awakened.”
At the west:
“The hidden road is opened.”
At the north:
“The result is grounded.”
Then face the triangle and chant:
“Raum, Raum, Raum, corvus niger, aperi vias occultas.”
The chant continues until the operator feels the ritual field thicken. Then the conjuration is spoken:
“Raum, mighty Earl of the Goetia, commander of thirty legions, spirit who appears as the crow and takes human form by command, I call you into this triangle. Come as revealer of secrets, destroyer of dignities, mover of guarded treasure, divider of hostile powers, and reconciler of enemies when reconciliation serves the true arrangement.”
The main petition is read aloud. Then the operation is divided into specific commands. For example:
“To the current of revelation: expose what is hidden.”
“To the current of pressure: move what is withheld.”
“To the current of division: weaken those joined against me.”
“To the current of collapse: strip false dignity from the obstructing power.”
“To the current of realignment: restore what should not have been broken.”
After each command, one of the thirty legion markers is moved closer to Raum’s sigil. This is repeated until all chosen aspects of the operation have been assigned. In a full version, all thirty markers may be moved one by one while chanting Raum’s name. In a shorter version, groups of markers may be assigned to each function.
The offering of wine (and animal blood, if one can procure it in sufficent amount) is then raised and placed before the triangle:
“Raum, receive this offering as witness to the work. Let your legions move through hidden roads, speech, timing, pressure, exposure, fracture, and reversal.”
The operator then enters a channeling phase. Sit with the staff or wand across the knees and the athame resting on the altar. Ask:
“Raum, what is the correct order of action?”
Write the answer. This is important in complex cases because Raum may reveal whether exposure must come before pressure, whether an alliance must be divided before money can move, or whether an enemy’s dignity must be weakened before reconciliation becomes possible.
The ritual closes with a firm dismissal:
“Raum, mighty Earl, your office has been called and your commands have been given. Carry this work through your thirty legions and through the hidden architecture of the matter. Depart in power, leaving the rite sealed and the result in motion.”
The thirty markers may be gathered into a black pouch with the petition and kept for thirty days, or disposed of according to the nature of the work. If the operation is destructive, the remains should not be kept near the sleeping space.
Raum’s Synergy with Other Spirits
Raum can be worked with alone, especially when the goal is clear and falls directly within his office: exposure, division, reversal, debt recovery, or the destruction of false dignity.
However, in more complex situations, his current can be combined with other spirits to create a layered operation. This is especially useful when the problem is not one-dimensional, but involves money, influence, enemies, emotional manipulation, secrecy, or blocked movement.
Raum and Andromalius form a strong combination for recovery work. Andromalius is traditionally associated with recovering stolen goods, punishing thieves, and exposing dishonest people, while Raum can pressure the structure around the withheld resource and move advantage away from the person holding it. This pairing is especially useful when money, property, documents, or leverage have been wrongfully taken or withheld.
Raum and Bune can be combined when the goal involves money, status, or business positioning. Bune is better suited to long-term financial growth, influence within hierarchies, and improved material circumstances, while Raum is better at breaking obstruction and shifting resources out of hostile hands. Bune builds and elevates; Raum destabilizes and transfers. Together, they can be useful when financial growth is blocked by a person, institution, rival, or stagnant arrangement.
Raum and Mammon create a more forceful wealth current. Mammon governs broader wealth, ambition, opportunity, and material expansion, while Raum can attack the specific points where money is trapped, delayed, or unfairly controlled by others. This combination may be appropriate when the goal is not only to attract prosperity, but also to break the structures that prevent wealth from moving.
Raum and Astaroth are useful for hidden knowledge, divination, and the exposure of deeper causes. Astaroth can reveal the broader spiritual, psychological, or strategic truth of a matter, while Raum can act upon what is revealed by destabilizing the obstruction or exposing the people involved. This pairing is especially useful before a major working, when the magician needs to understand what is really happening beneath the surface.
Raum and Orobas may be used when the situation requires both truth and protection. Orobas is often approached for honest answers, stability, and protection from deception, while Raum can uncover hidden threats and break hostile arrangements. This is a more controlled and balanced pairing than some of Raum’s harsher combinations, especially when the client needs clarity without unnecessary escalation.
Raum and Dantalion can be powerful in social, emotional, or relationship-based conflicts. Dantalion works through thoughts, emotions, perception, and the inner architecture of human behavior. Raum works through exposure, disruption, and realignment. Together, they may be useful when a relationship, friendship, business partnership, or family matter has been distorted by hidden feelings, manipulation, pride, or false narratives.
Raum and Amon can be used where reconciliation and conflict are intertwined. Amon is traditionally associated with reconciling friends and enemies, but also with causing conflict when needed. Raum has a similar duality, though his reconciliation comes through structural realignment rather than emotional softening. This pairing is useful when one bond must be repaired while another harmful influence must be broken.
Raum and Andras form a harsher combination for the breakdown of hostile relationships, alliances, or groups. Andras is more openly destructive and conflict-oriented of the two. This is not a gentle pairing and should be reserved for situations where the goal is serious division or the collapse of a hostile coalition.
Raum and Belial can be used when the work concerns authority, domination, legal pressure, institutional resistance, or entrenched power. Belial’s current is sovereign, forceful, and deeply connected with independence from imposed structures. Raum can break the dignity and stability of an opposing authority, while Belial strengthens the magician’s ability to stand above the situation and refuse submission.
Raum and Paimon may be useful when strategy, influence, and the command of events are required. Paimon brings knowledge, authority, persuasion, and the ability to understand complex human systems. Raum can then be directed toward the weak points revealed through that higher intelligence. This pairing is less chaotic than some others and may be suitable when the work requires calculated influence rather than raw aggression.
So when paired correctly, Raum acts like the crow that finds the hidden weakness in the structure, while the other spirit provides the broader current of wealth, love, justice, protection, authority, or influence, depending on their own powers and attributes.
Final Word
