How to Summon Dantalion: Full Demon Summoning Ritual!

Dantalion is a Great Duke of Hell, most notably described in the Ars Goetia. There are some very good reasons to summon this demon. If you’re wondering how exactly to do it, the instructions laid out in this article will prove very helpful. Before we get to the ritual itself, let’s examine Dantalion and his powers more closely. This is his description from Ars Goetia:

The Seventy-first Spirit is Dantalion. He is a Duke Great and Mighty, appearing in the Form of a Man with many Countenances, all Men’s and Women’s Faces; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one; for he knoweth the Thoughts of all Men and Women, and can change them at his Will. He can cause Love, and show the Similitude of any person, and show the same by a Vision, let them be in what part of the World they Will. He governeth 36 Legions of Spirits.

There is a lot of important information revealed in these few sentences. So let’s break them down to see what are proper reasons for summoning Dantalion, because it doesn’t help if you try to summon him for a task that he is not able to assist you in.

Good reasons for summoning Dantalion

  • To teach all Arts and Sciences = If you are studying any subject, art, craft or book knowledge, you will reach your goal faster and with greater success.
  • Declare the Secret Counsel of any one.. and change them at his Will = This means that through Dantalion’s help you can learn what someone is thinking and even change their thinking. This can have immense benefits to you in any social dealings, whether it’s love, business or something entirely different.
  • Show the Similitude of any person by a Vision = If you want to meet someone or you haven’t seen someone for a very long time, you can ask Dantalion to show you that person through a Vision.

So we can see that Dantalion has some very unique powers, which makes him a very useful demonic companion. What now follows is a full ritual guide on how to summon him.

Dantalion Summoning Ritual

Dantalion’s sigil

1. Be clear in your intent

When summoning a demon it’s very important that you know exactly what you will ask of it when it appears. The above list provides you with 3 broad possibilities. You can narrow down further depending on your personal goals and desires. You can ask for one or multiple things, but make sure that they don’t contradict eachother.

2. Perform a 3 day pre-ritual cleanse

A 3 day spiritual and physical cleanse is advised before proceeding. It is to show the demon your dedication and to make you more attuned with the magical energy that will permeate the ritual. A 3 day cleanse involves fasting on only water or at the very least eating a clean diet void of sugar, fat and processed foods. In the later case you don’t necessarily have to follow a vegan or a vegetarian diet, but you should keep meat to a minimum.

As far as spiritual cleansing goes, remove as many negative influences from your life as you can during these 3 days leading up to the ritual. If that means taking time off from work and some non-essential responsibilities and habits then so be it. Any bedroom fun should also be postponed until after the ritual. Meditate a lot during this period and clear your mind so that you are very calm and beyond ordinary concerns on the day of the ritual.

3. Prepare your ritual items

This ritual is very minimalistic, but it’s more than enough to provide clear results if you’ve done the cleanse and meditated as explained in step #2. For this ritual you will need 3 red and 1 black candle, a wand or an athame and salt. Side note: If you need help with finding ritual items, check out my recommendations in this article.

4. Perform this Dantalion summoning ritual

The ritual should be performed at nighttime, either outdoors or indoors. The most important thing is that you’re not disturbed by anyone and that your mind and body are clear and fresh. Be clean, wear clean and respectable clothes or even better, ceremonial robes, if you have them. Draw Dantalion’s sigil on a piece of paper.

As you set out to perform this ritual, first take 10-20 minutes to meditate and clear your mind. You can use Dantalion’s enn “Avage ayer Dantalion on ca” as a mantra or a chant in order to focus your mind. Using his enn in this manner will also serve as a good introduction to the ritual itself.

When you are ready, draw the magic circle by pouring salt on the floor. Next to the circle draw a triangle. You will stay in the circle while Dantalion should appear in the triangle. When I say appear, I’m not saying that he will definitely appear to you as a physical/visual entity. He may choose to remain invisible and communicate in other ways. Nonetheless, he will be bound within the confines of the triangle. This is for your own safety and the safety of others. Dantalion is known for causing trouble if summoned outside of a triangle.

Next, place the paper with Dantalion’s sigil inside the triangle. Place 3 red candles on each corner of the triangle and light them. Now stand in the middle of the circle and light the black candle and hold it in your left hand if you are right handed or in your right hand if you are left handed. With the other hand hold the wand/athame and point it at the triangle. Now repeat the following incantation 36: “Ashar Podelmus Detricit Dantalion” As you are chanting this incantation, feel the energy pouring into the triangle from your wand or athame.

At the end of this, you may sit in the lotus position on the floor in the center of your magical circle. Close your eyes and remain silent, feeling the energy and sensing the demon’s presence. You may rock back and front, from the left to the right and so forth. Feel your body loosening up and allowing the demonic influence to take hold. Now the demon will be able to communicate with you in some way, either audio-visually, intuitively or by providing you with peculiar emotions. If any of this happens, you will know that the ritual has opened you up to Dantalion. Now you can ask the demon for assistance in whatever it is you had in mind.

Once you are finished, say “Ashar Podelmus Detricit Dantalion” once more and the demon will return to the astral realm and do your bidding. Remove the candles and the sigil and store them in a safe place. Destroy the triangle and the circle so that no one will discover them. Secrecy is of utmost importance, otherwise a person may get involved in the ritual proceedings and ruin its effects.

With the ritual complete, you may resume your daily activities or work actively towards fulfilling your goals, knowing that Dantalion is aiding you every step of the way. When Dantalion has completed the task(s), burn his sigil. Until then, keep it in your possession in a safe place.

Final Words

Many beginner magicians prefer working with the more popular demons such as Lucifer and Paimon. But there is a lot of value in conjuring Dantalion and similar spirits for the precise reason that they are not as popular. This means that they can devote all of their energy in assisting you, with the hopes that you will spread the word of their power and make them as powerful in the eyes of others as the before mentioned rulers of Hell.

Having said that, if you need help with summoning Dantalion or any other demon, you can now request a ritual, and I will conjure the demon for you. That way you will get all the benefits of the demonic summoning without any of the dangers and difficulties associated with it. See you on the other side!
