Lucifuge Rofocale: Powers, Enn, Offerings & Wealth Ritual

Lucifuge Rofocale is one of the most important wealth spirits outside the seventy-two demons of the Ars Goetia. His fame comes primarily from the Grand Grimoire, where he appears as the spirit summoned for treasure, riches and the making of pacts.

That immediately sets him apart from demons such as Bune, Clauneck or Mammon. Lucifuge’s current is not simply “money.” It is wealth under contract. Terms matter. Obligation matters. Timing matters. So does the question of what the magician is willing to exchange, build, maintain and become in order to hold the wealth being requested.

I work with Lucifuge when the objective involves serious material restructuring: business expansion, access to hidden opportunity, financial leverage, control over expenditure, long-term wealth architecture or the discovery of a path that produces more than ordinary effort alone. He is not the spirit I would call for a casual wish for extra cash.

Who Is Lucifuge Rofocale?

Lucifuge Rofocale does not come from the Ars Goetia. His best-known appearance is in the Grand Grimoire, also associated with the title Le Dragon Rouge or The Red Dragon. In that text, Lucifer is invoked as emperor, Beelzebub as prince, Astaroth as count, and Lucifuge Rofocale appears as the spirit with whom the magician seeks a pact for treasure and riches.

The old text is explicit about material wealth. The magician asks Lucifuge for riches. Lucifuge negotiates conditions. The rite uses a triangle of pacts, candles, a rod, written requisitions and a formal discharge of the spirit.

This is why I do not flatten Lucifuge into a generic “demon of abundance.” His current has always been tied to agreement, exchange and material consequence.

What Does the Name Lucifuge Rofocale Mean?

Lucifuge is usually interpreted through Latin as something close to “one who flees the light.” The second name, Rofocale, has attracted speculation, including attempts to connect it with Focalor or treat it as a reversal or corruption of another infernal name.

I do not pretend the etymology is more settled than it is. What matters more magically is that the name has accumulated a stable role through the grimoire tradition: Lucifuge Rofocale is the spirit called in the Grand Grimoire when treasure, wealth and pact-making are at stake.

Lucifuge Rofocale and the Grand Grimoire Pact

The original pact material is one of the reasons Lucifuge has such a formidable reputation. The Grand Grimoire presents a bargain in which the magician seeks treasure while Lucifuge imposes conditions. The historical text even includes a blood-signed pact and recurring obligations.

I do not reproduce that pact literally. There is no reason a modern magician has to imitate every threat, coercive formula or bodily act found in a nineteenth-century grimoire in order to work effectively with the spirit.

What I preserve is the part that actually matters: clarity of terms. If you ask Lucifuge for a major material result, define what you are asking for, what work you will perform, what offering or devotion you will maintain, and when the operation is considered fulfilled.

Loose language produces loose results. Lucifuge is one of the spirits with whom I prefer precision.

Lucifuge Rofocale’s Sigil

Several sigils circulate under Lucifuge’s name, and not all come from the same source. This is worth stating clearly because modern occult websites often place one design on a page and call it “the ancient sigil” without showing where it came from.

I use one established Lucifuge seal consistently and allow repetition to build the link. If you already work successfully with a particular seal, changing it merely because another image looks more dramatic is unnecessary.

The important thing is to distinguish a modern ritual seal from something demonstrably transmitted in the Grand Grimoire. Lucifuge’s grimoire identity is secure even where the later sigil tradition becomes messy.

Lucifuge Rofocale’s Enn

The modern enn commonly used for Lucifuge Rofocale is:

This belongs to modern demonolatry practice, not the Grand Grimoire. Contemporary practitioners use it for attunement, invocation and sigil meditation.

I use the enn as an opening current. Once the atmosphere becomes dense enough that the sigil or mirror begins to feel charged, I stop chanting and move into direct communication. The enn prepares the contact. It should not consume the entire operation.

Lucifuge Rofocale Offerings

This is currently one of the most common questions people ask about Lucifuge. The Grand Grimoire itself is more concerned with contractual payment and recurring obligation than with the modern devotional offering lists found online. Later practitioners have developed a much broader offering culture around him.

I prefer offerings that fit his wealth, underworld and pact currents without turning the altar into a random collection of “dark” objects.

Crystals I Use With Lucifuge Rofocale

Crystals are not required by the old grimoire, but they are useful when I want to construct a more elaborate wealth field around the evocation.

Smoky quartz grounds the operation and gives the altar a heavy material character. Citrine supports expansion and visible material gain. Obsidian suits hidden opportunity, underworld symbolism and the removal of self-deception around money. Clear quartz can sit at the center of a grid when I want the other currents unified around one objective.

I do not claim these stones are Lucifuge’s “ancient crystals.” They are ritual tools selected for function.

Lucifuge is often given Saturnian or Plutonian correspondences in modern practice, but I do not force him under one permanent planet. His wealth work frequently benefits from a combination of currents.

Attunement should remain simpler than a full evocation. Place the sigil in front of a black mirror, light one dark candle and burn frankincense with a little patchouli.

Enter trance and repeat:

When the mirror begins to feel deeper and the atmosphere becomes heavier, stop chanting. Ask one question about your material life: Where is value present that I am failing to recognize or command?

Remain silent. Do not immediately ask for wealth. Learn how Lucifuge communicates around material structure first.

How to Summon Lucifuge Rofocale: The Black Treasury Gate

This is not a beginner candle spell. Lucifuge’s own grimoire tradition is ceremonial, contractual and demanding, so I prefer to give the operation enough structure to reflect the spirit being called.

The rite below is designed for a serious wealth objective: business expansion, a major material opportunity, financial restructuring or the opening of a long-term wealth current. It is deliberately more elaborate than an attunement because the operation is doing several things at once: establishing authority, defining terms, opening the treasury current, identifying the hidden mechanism and binding the result into a physical anchor.

Ritual Implements

You will need a black mirror, Lucifuge’s sigil, an athame, a ritual staff or wand, a bell, four iron nails, black cord, a metal key, a small lockable box, dark red wine or another formal offering, a bowl of clean water, a charcoal burner, and an incense blend of frankincense, patchouli, cinnamon and agarwood.

Use four candles: black, deep green, purple and gold. The black candle governs hidden wealth and the underworld current. Green governs material growth. Purple represents authority and pact. Gold represents visible manifestation and worldly success.

For the crystal field, use smoky quartz, obsidian, citrine and clear quartz. One stone of each is enough if they are substantial. More stones can be used if you are building a larger grid, but they should have a defined position rather than being scattered decoratively.

Timing

I prefer a Thursday evening for expansion work because Jupiter supports opportunity and growth. If the operation is more concerned with debt, restraint, financial discipline or the recovery of resources being lost, a Saturn planetary hour can be added instead.

The planetary current supports the rite. Lucifuge remains the central spirit.

Construct the Circle and Treasury Triangle

Mark the ritual circle with salt and place one iron nail at each cardinal point. Inside the circle, stand facing the altar.

Outside the circle, directly before the altar, mark a triangle large enough to contain the black mirror, Lucifuge’s sigil and the central crystal grid. This echoes the contractual geometry of the Grand Grimoire without reproducing every coercive feature of the historical rite.

Place the black mirror at the rear of the triangle. Put Lucifuge’s sigil in front of it. Place clear quartz at the center, smoky quartz to the left, citrine to the right and obsidian nearest the point of the triangle facing you.

Set the four candles around the triangle in this order: black behind the mirror, purple to the left, green to the right and gold nearest you.

Prepare the Wealth Anchor

Place the lockable box on the altar. Inside it place the metal key, one written description of the material objective, and one object tied to the goal. For business work, this may be a contract, product token, company seal, card or another physical symbol of the enterprise.

Wrap the box once with black cord and tie three deliberate knots. The first knot represents the current material limitation. The second represents the mechanism that keeps repeating it. The third represents the hidden condition you have not yet identified.

Do not untie these knots yet.

Open the Four Currents

Ring the bell once and light the black candle. Walk clockwise around the inside of the circle with the athame held low and say that you are opening the hidden material current.

Light the green candle and make a second circuit, this time holding the wand or staff. State that growth and material increase are being drawn toward the operation.

Light the purple candle. Return to the altar and trace a simple vertical line above the sigil with the athame. State that the rite now stands under formal terms and conscious authority.

Light the gold candle last. Hold both hands over the lockable box and state the measurable result you intend the operation to produce.

Consecrate the Key

Take the metal key and pass it slowly through the incense smoke. Touch it first to the smoky quartz, then to the obsidian, then citrine and finally clear quartz.

With each contact speak one word: Depth. Sight. Increase. Command.

Lay the key across Lucifuge’s sigil.

Call Lucifuge

Begin the enn:

Eyen tasa valocur Lucifuge Rofocale.

Chant while gazing alternately at the sigil and the black mirror. When the mirror begins to lose its ordinary visual depth, stop.

Take the athame and trace Lucifuge’s sigil once in the air above the triangle. Then speak:

Lucifuge Rofocale, keeper of the hidden treasury and lord of the pact, I call you into this chamber. Come through the seal by which I know you and stand within the gate I have prepared. Reveal the wealth concealed beneath ordinary sight. Show me the mechanism, contract, position or opportunity through which this material objective can be brought into form.

Strike the floor once with the base of the staff or wand. Do not immediately continue talking. Let the atmosphere change.

The Examination of Terms

Take the written objective from the box and read it aloud slowly. Then state what you are willing to do materially to support the work. This can be completing a project, contacting a defined number of prospects, launching an offer, restructuring spending, developing a skill or maintaining a promised devotional act.

The point is not to bargain theatrically. The point is to remove vagueness.

Place the written objective beneath the clear quartz in the triangle.

Break the First Knot

Take the box and cut or untie the first knot. State the obvious limitation you already understand. If it is lack of clients, insufficient pricing, poor positioning or wasted expenditure, name it directly.

Place the first loose section of cord beside the smoky quartz.

Break the Second Knot

Hold the black mirror in your gaze and ask Lucifuge:

What mechanism keeps this limitation alive?

Remain silent until one answer, image or impression becomes stronger than the others.

Then untie or cut the second knot. State what has been revealed and place the cord beside the obsidian.

The Hidden Treasury

Now take the key from the sigil and hold it in your dominant hand. Point the athame toward the citrine and ask:

Where is the value I have not yet entered?

Look into the black mirror. This is the main scrying phase of the rite. Allow the answer to come as a visual image, phrase, business concept, person, market, method, number or sudden understanding.

When the answer becomes clear enough to state, speak it aloud.

Break the Third Knot

Untie the final knot and remove the cord completely from the box.

Place the cord in the bowl of water. This ends the old binding rather than destroying the box or the objective itself.

Open the box. Return the key to it together with the written objective and the physical business or wealth anchor.

Close and lock the box.

Seal the Pact of Action

Trace a Jupiter glyph over the box if the work concerns growth, or a Saturn glyph if the work concerns containment and financial discipline.

Then place the locked box in the center of the circle and walk around it once clockwise with the incense burner.

Speak:

Lucifuge Rofocale, the terms are spoken and the gate is opened. Let hidden value become visible. Let the mechanism of wealth move from idea into matter. Let what I have pledged to do become the road through which the result enters. I ask for no empty fortune. I ask for a treasury I can find, enter and hold.

Offer and Receive

Pour the wine into the offering cup and place it beside the triangle. Raise the cup briefly toward the mirror, then lower it.

Remain in silence for several minutes. If further instructions come, record them immediately after the rite.

Ring the bell once to mark the end of communication.

Close the Gate

Thank Lucifuge directly and give him license to depart from the formal ritual space while the material operation continues.

Extinguish the black candle first, then purple, green and gold. Remove the iron nails from the circle and store them together with the ritual tools.

Keep the locked box on the altar or in the place where you conduct business. Do not reopen it casually. I reopen the box only when the result has materially shifted or when I perform a deliberate renewal of the operation.

The following day, act on the clearest instruction received. An elaborate ritual becomes useless if the magician refuses to build the earthly channel through which the wealth can arrive.

Why Lucifuge Rituals Should Be Taken Seriously

The Grand Grimoire itself does not portray Lucifuge as a spirit approached through casual devotional minimalism. The historical operation uses fasting, ritual geometry, specialized implements, conjurations, written terms and formal dismissal.

I do not copy the old rite literally, but I preserve its seriousness. Lucifuge is especially suited to complex ceremonial work because complexity forces the magician to define the operation before entering trance. Every tool has a role. Every movement reinforces the objective. The ritual becomes a material map of the wealth structure being created.

Lucifuge Rofocale and the Qliphoth

Modern Left-Hand Path systems often place Lucifuge within Qliphothic frameworks, frequently connecting him with concealment, Saturnian darkness or Satariel. These associations are later occult developments, not material from the Grand Grimoire.

I find the concealment theme useful when working with hidden wealth, but I keep the traditions distinct. Lucifuge’s historical grimoire identity already gives us more than enough material to understand why he became such an important spirit of pacts and material power.

Lucifuge Rofocale vs. Mammon, Clauneck and Bune

These spirits overlap around wealth, but I do not consider them interchangeable.

Mammon is excellent for the expansion of material appetite, wealth consciousness and large-scale acquisition. Clauneck works naturally with commerce, transactions and money flow. Bune is useful where wealth overlaps with eloquence, reputation and social position.

Lucifuge becomes my preference when the work needs to feel contractual, structural and long-term. He is especially powerful when wealth depends on the magician entering a new relationship with obligation, discipline and material authority.

Final Thoughts on Lucifuge Rofocale

Lucifuge Rofocale remains one of the strongest wealth spirits in the Western grimoire tradition precisely because his current is not sentimental. Wealth is not treated as a mood. It is a structure built from opportunity, agreement, obligation and control.
